Manston gets busier without BA

Matt Clarke from KIA had a few words to say about BA and the airport here is a short passage from the full article

"We have now established a solid base of regular freight customers and tonnage has bounced back after the temporary reduction associated with the administration of MK airlines.

"Last week’s total of 812 tonnes was one of the highest weekly volumes witnessed under our ownership and we expect to break records in the coming weeks.

"We would like to thank Thanet council and the local community for their support in our efforts to secure the new business.

"We have received a great deal of support from our neighbours and stakeholders and it has been heartening to see the clear recognition in Thanet that growth at the airport will bring with it employment and opportunity to local people.

  1. I fail to see how Thanet residents should be pleased with Infratil's boast of ever increasing volumes of air traffic at Manston. The airport's claim to have support from the local residents rings very hollow with me and every one I know. They are simply out to make money, full stop. To claim overwhelming local support is simply a lie. Thanet will become a less and less desirable place to live if the airport developers get their way. Shame too on the Council for allowing extended flight times.

  2. This is quite a thorny issue. Sounds like lots of people are involved, with opinions on both sides.

  3. yep it is Robert I am on the pro side of things. But I do know what chances an successful airport can bring to an area.
